A Rich, Unique History of Coming Together
The Millikin-Decatur Symphony Orchestra [MDSO] of Decatur, Illinois, has a long tradition and is unique in combining of faculty, professionals, community and students in its body.
It is a rich educational tool for the music faculty at Millikin University to have available so students can become a part of such a group early in their training. Each string student at the university is required to play in the Orchestra and the other instruments are used as needed and space allows.
MDSO Leadership
Since the founding of the Symphony Orchestra Guild of Decatur the Orchestra has had only four conductors! Each conductor has done much to promote and grow the Symphony.
Meet William McClain
As of 2020, William McClain is the Music Director and Conductor of the MDSO and offers a candid conversation about his life, training, and inspirations.
Meet Ga-Eun Kim
Ga-Eun Kim joins MDSO as the new Concertmaster.
